My name is Melanie Maloney and I am the owner, operator and creator for Made By Melz. I'm a South Carolina native and love anything to do with arts, crafts and creating. YES! I also love anything to do with pets especially my own 2 cats (Honeybee and Cinnamon), as you will see in some of my products. ;) 

MadebyMelz (The original that is!!!) was established in 2016 when I was living in Charleston, SC. My mother was an artist so I attribute my love of creating being passed down by her.

I was always drawn to jewelry if I was at a local market or on a shopping adventure. I started realizing that I could probably make the pieces that I loved and also could design whatever I wanted! Hence the idea of making one of a kind pieces for others came into play. I started hand cutting metal in 2016 because I wanted to make (9s) in memory of those lost in the Charleston Emanuel Nine tragedy that took place on June 17, 2016 in Charleston, South Carolina. I gave 50 metal 9 necklaces to the families of the victims as my amazing godmother purchased enough to do so.

Hand cutting metals and hand stamping personalized sayings, etc. on them became the base of my business. Since moving to Greensboro in 2017, I have tested my skills and tried various new mediums until I finally found my niche of making upcycled jewelry, etc. from Vintage Silverware this past January of 2024  

One spoon ring became many more and branched into so many different things you can make out of vintage silverware. Who knew?! I now have a large variety of tools/equipment that make it all possible for faster and more detailed production. I’ve learned from the best of the best who share their wealth of knowledge openly. Also… I basically just wing it and hope for the best! 😂 

What MadebyMelz is most known for is creating custom and personalized jewelry and accessories. I am always open to hearing an idea and doing my very best to make it happen.
